Components

A component is a definition you can place many times. Change the definition and every instance follows.

  1. Select an object, or several.
  2. Click Make component on the floating action bar, or right-click and choose Make Component.
  3. The result is an instance, a placed copy of the new definition, and it's selected.

If you'd selected a single group, that group becomes the component; otherwise Linea wraps your selection in a group first, all in one undo step. A building can become a component too.

With an instance selected

  • Edit component opens the definition for editing.
  • Make unique copies the definition and repoints only this instance at it, so the others keep the original.
  • Mirror (and Un-mirror) flips the instance.

The Components tab of the Library lists the components in your drawing with how many instances each has.
