Finding your way around Linea

Linea's window has five parts: the canvas in the middle, a rail of tools on the left, a tray of settings on the right, a toolbar along the bottom and a few pills across the top.

The top of the window

The pill at the top left switches the canvas between 2D, 3D and Split, then, after a divider, Diagram, Render and Sheet. Beside it sit the Corb pill, which opens the assistant, and the Library pill, which opens the library of 2D symbols, 3D objects, materials and components. Both pills appear in 2D, 3D and Split.

At the top right, the Views chip lists every floor plan, elevation, section, callout and saved camera, and the Levels chip lists your levels and sets the active one.

The left rail

The rail is a single scrolling column. From the top it holds Select, Zone and Walk; the view and navigation tools (Isometric, Top, Front, Back, Left, Right, Orbit, Zoom, Pan, Zoom extents); the transform tools (Move, Rotate, Scale, Flip); in 2D the drafting tools; and then Offset, Trim, Extend, Mirror, Fillet, Join, Text and Tag.

The bottom toolbar

The floating toolbar has two states. Build holds walls, doors, windows, floors and structure; Massing holds blocks, push and pull and free-form study. The tab at its left edge switches between them.

The right tray

At the top of the tray is the Outliner, a permanent box that lists everything in the drawing. Below it come the rows you open and close as you work: Project Info, Site, Parameters, Properties, Entity Info, Layers, References, Schedules, Cameras, Shadows, Styles, Display, Instructor and Files. Using the tray says what each one holds.

Modals

Jobs you open, finish and close live in modals. The Files row opens Models, Import and Output (its button reads Export), and the Revisions tab of Project Info opens the revision register.
