Layers

Layers control how linework is drawn, hidden, locked and printed. Open them from the Layers row.

To make a layer and draw on it

  1. Click the plus button (Add layer). It makes New layer, copies the style of the first default layer and makes it the current one.
  2. Draw. What you draw next lands on the current layer. To change which is current, click the round button at the left of another layer's row (Current layer).
  3. To move a line or shape that's already drawn, select it and choose the layer in the Layer section of Parameters.

Layer 0 is there in every drawing.

To change how a layer looks

Click the colour swatch to open Line colour, weight and type. Weights run Cut heavy, Cut, Profile, Beyond, Hidden, Annotation and Hairline; linetypes are Continuous, Dashed and Dotted. Double-click a layer's name to rename it.

To hide, lock or stop printing a layer

On the layer's row, the eye is Hide layer, the padlock is Lock layer and the printer is Hide on sheets/PDF/DXF. Each toggles back.

To remove a layer

Click the bin (Remove layer). Linea asks first, and the layer's objects move to the Linework layer rather than being deleted.

Layers from a referenced drawing are listed under that reference's name.
