Drawing walls

Arm the Wall tool, click along the line you want, and you've drawn in plan and in 3D together.

To draw a run of walls

  1. Switch the bottom toolbar to Build and click Wall.
  2. Set the wall in the Parameters row (see below).
  3. Click to set the start, then click for each end point. Every wall begins where the last one finished.
  4. Double-click to finish the run, or press Escape. The walls you've placed stay.

To set the wall before you draw it

With the tool armed, Parameters shows Wall type (with Edit type, or New wall type… when none is chosen), Continuation, Thickness (when no type is chosen), Alignment, Top, Height, Offset, Base level and Base offset.

  • Continuation is Room (auto-close), where the run ends by itself when a wall closes a room, or Single wall, where it stops after one.
  • Alignment is Outer face, Centre or Inner face.
  • Top lists your levels and Unconnected. Choose a level and Height reads out; choose Unconnected and Height becomes a slider you set yourself.

A leg shorter than one centimetre is ignored. For an exact length, type it as you draw; Typing exact values shows how.

To curve a wall

  1. Select a placed wall.
  2. In its panel, drag the Curve slider to set the curve offset. Or click the Curve button, bow the wall with the pointer and click to commit; you can type a radius or a bulge instead.

Curving is offered on walls that carry no doors, windows or other hosted items and no edited elevation profile. To reshape a wall's elevation, use Edit profile in the Elevation profile section of its panel; Reset profile appears once you've edited one.
