Columns, beams and trusses

Columns, beams, rafters, purlins, trusses, foundations and piers live in one group on the Build toolbar.

To reach them

Click Structural items on the Build toolbar. The toolbar swaps to that group's tiles, with a Back tile to return.

To place a column or a grid line

Click Column, then click where it stands. For a structural grid, click Grid line and click to place it.

To span a beam, purlin or truss

  1. Click Beam (or Purlin, or Truss).
  2. Click the start point, then the end point. A purlin is level between them; a truss is a King Post truss spanning them.

To set a rafter

Click Rafter, click the low eave end, then the high ridge end. It follows walls and lines as you click.

To add a foundation or a pier

Click Foundation, then click a wall to add a strip footing beneath it; Projection and Depth are in Parameters. For a pier, click Pier, slide along a wall and click.

Beams, rafters, purlins and trusses take a typed length and angle as you place them, the way walls do.
