Hatches

Hatches fill a region of a drawing with a pattern. They come from three places: walls and slabs in section, the Hatch tool, and your own hatch materials.

In section

Each layer of a wall type has a hatch material that sets how it draws when cut. The pattern families are masonry, blockwork, concrete, timber, insulation (quilt and rigid), glass, solid and empty (an air cavity). Built-in materials include Brickwork, Blockwork, Concrete, Insulation (rigid), Insulation (quilt), Timber (sawn), Timber (planed), Stone, Screed, Plasterboard, Plaster, Glass and Cavity. Choose them in the Material column of Edit type.

Drawing a hatch

  1. In 2D, click Hatch in the drafting tools. In Split, find it under Draft on the Build toolbar.
  2. Click a closed boundary to fill it with the current hatch pattern.
  3. Select the hatch and use the Hatch section in Parameters to change its Pattern, Scale and Angle.

The patterns are solid, diag45, cross, dots, brick, block, insulation, aggregate, batt, earth and grid.

Your own hatch materials

At the foot of the Material list in Edit type, choose New hatch material…. Give it a Name, pick a Family, set the Spacing (0.5 to 20 mm) and Angle (0 to 180), watch the preview, and click Save. Saving always adds a new entry, and a repeated name is made unique.
